How personal information sent through this website is used, how long it is kept, and who it is shared with.
W.JONES AND SONS(MOTOR ENGINEERS)LIMITED (trading as W Jones of Bognor), 18 Lennox Street, Bognor Regis PO21 1NB, is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.
What we collect and why
When you send an enquiry, part-exchange request or booking request, we collect the details you type — typically your name, phone number, email address, vehicle registration and message. We use them for one purpose: responding to that enquiry and carrying out what you asked for (arranging a viewing, valuing a car, booking workshop time). The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and, for follow-up about your own vehicle, legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
Finance applications
Finance eligibility checks and applications happen on Evolution Funding’s My Car Credit service, which has its own privacy notice. We receive the outcome needed to progress your purchase. We are a credit broker, not a lender (FCA No: 843223).
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don’t become a sale are deleted within 12 months. Records connected to a sale or workshop job are kept for 6 years to meet legal, warranty and tax obligations.
Who we share it with
Nobody, except: Evolution Funding when you choose to apply for finance; our IT providers who host this site; and authorities where the law requires it. We never sell personal information.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to our use of it — call 01243 864641 or write to the address above. If you’re unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
